My Very First Novel- And How I Became a Bookworm

   It was one of those days where everyone starts rushing to the bookstores to buy the necessary stationary for the start of a new school year. That year was going to be my last year in middle school, and I wanted it to be my most memorable one. Therefore, as I wandered in the books section of the store, a novel by Kelley Armstrong caught my eye. That was when I decided to use the novel as a starting point for making that year the best year ever.

   Without hesitation, I grabbed the book and dropped it in the cart. It was only after I went home that I inspected the novel cautiously, checking if the genre appeals to me and skimming the summary at the back of the novel. Instead of checking how many pages the novel consists of, I arbitrarily opened a page and stuck my nose in to "smell" it, which might have seemed weird at first, but it couldn't be helped. The smell of a first-hand novel is too good to resist. 

   As I started reading the prologue and the first chapter of The Awakening by Kelley Armstrong, I noticed that there was something missing. There are mentions of events that I guess I should have known about but didn't. Actually, the more I read from that novel, the more that feeling intensified, causing me to stop reading the novel entirely and try to solve the problem. 

   After searching for the novel on Google, I realized that the novel is the second book in a trilogy! No wonder why I felt like something was missing. If it had been a stand-alone novel, I could have read it without any problems. But since it wasn't, I had to read the first book in the series to be able to understand the novel I bought. 

   And that was when I was introduced to online electronic books. The first novel, The Summoning, grabbed my attention like nothing else. Once I started reading, I couldn't get my eyes off the screen, not even for a second. Well, I guess the last sentence was an exaggeration. A slow internet connection caused the page to load slowly, which led me to take a break once in a while when I got almost fed up from the internet's slow speed. 

   

   Eight hours later, I actually finished reading The Summoning! I still remember that day till now. Do you know that feeling when you have reached the ending of a really awesome novel? Well, that was exactly how I felt! I was so disappointed that I decided to research more on the author just to prevent myself from reading The Awakening, the second novel. I had to give myself a break, or else I would have just gobbled up the other two books in the same day. 

   

   That was how I got into the habit of reading novels- young adults, mostly. The more the pages, the more I like the novel, since that way it'll be too hard to gobble it up  (I have a tendency to finish books in one day). What I like most about books is their ability to transform the words that you see on the page into moving pictures in your brain- it's like having your own private cinema! No matter in what mood you're in, novels won't let you down. 

   Books are a teenager's best friend, just as dogs are to a man. 

   Never stop reading.
